Louisiana Postpones Presidential Primaries

Coronavirus precautions put in place

Friday saw the State of Louisiana join several other states in taking precautions in order to stop the spread of COVID-19. The primary was originally scheduled for April 4, but will not be held until June 20. “This weighty decision has been made out of absolute abundance of caution for Louisiana’s voters, voting officials and the general public as a whole, and there were many factors that led us to arrive to this conclusion,” Louisiana Secretary of State Kyle Ardoin said.

Currently, there are over 3 million registered voters who would vote in 2000 polling places in the state, potentially heightening the risk of the spread of diseases. Arizona, Florida, Illinois, and Ohio all have primary elections on Tuesday that will continue as normal. States like Illinois have already put a ban on gatherings of over 250 people, and have begun closing restaurants and bars to limit the spread of the disease.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • That God would give the leaders of state governments wisdom on how to combat the spread of coronavirus.
  • For God to lead President Trump toward the fastest end of this pandemic.
  • For the Center for Disease Control to help people stay healthy.
